The Grove Gazette
The Gazette is published quarterly by the volunteer newsletter committee and delivered to every mailbox in the Grove. Recent issues are archived below. Spring 2026 · Vol. 4, No. 1 Pool opens May 30The pool opens for the season Saturday, May 30. New loungers arrive this year courtesy of the reserve schedule. Please remember: guests must be accompanied by a resident. Meet the Events CommitteeOur Events Committee is four volunteers and one very organized clipboard. The spring plant exchange returns in April, and yes, there will be a parade float again this July. From the ArchivesBefore the Grove: the 1851 patent survey for this valley records a spring on the parcel now comprising the northeast corner of the community — "water rising cold and constant." The surveyor's fieldbook ends mid-entry, and the county's fair copy was never completed. The groves that gave the area its name came later, and the water, presumably, is still down there somewhere. Local history submissions are welcome for future issues. Winter 2026 · Vol. 3, No. 3 Holiday lights winnersCongratulations to our holiday lights ribbon recipients on Harmony Grove Parkway and Silver Sage Lane! The judges report the cocoa provided at several driveways did not influence the outcome. Reserve study adoptedThe Board adopted the community's first reserve study last spring. In plain terms: the big-ticket items (pool, tot lot, monuments) now have a savings plan, and no assessment increase is required. Rain and the trailsDecomposed granite and December snowmelt are old enemies. Please stay off closed trail segments while they drain — footprints set like concrete and the fix comes out of all our dues. Fall 2025 · Vol. 3, No. 2 From the BoardA short one this quarter: dues are unchanged for 2026, the streetlight on Evening Star has been referred to the vendor, and the gophers have been referred to a higher power. Pool closingLast swim of the season is Labor Day at 8 PM. The pool will be drained and serviced per the annual maintenance calendar. Recipe cornerDiane's white bean chili, as requested by everyone at the potluck: white beans, roast chicken, green chiles, cumin, and — her words — "a coward's amount of jalapeño is worse than none." The summer 2026 issue is delayed to August. Photo submissions from the parade are welcome. |
